“Energy is the real substance behind the appearance of matter and forms.”

~Dr. Randolph Stone, Founder, Polarity Therapy

I offer a wholistic approach to healing recognizing the interrelationships of our mind, emotions, body, soul and spirit. This work is subtle yet profound in nature and is deeply transformational. Working together, the healing process deepens in a way that meets and honors your life experiences. Your body begins to metabolize what it could not process on its own and helps you restore your capacity to self-regulate, find balance, equanimity and resilience. Inner strength increases along with greater awareness and skills to navigate life circumstances.

This re-alignment brings coherence to your…

  • ease of movement

  • emotional well-being

  • physical vitality

  • rhythms of living

  • capacity to enjoy life

“Life heals itself, given the proper conditions.”

~Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, Founder, Osteopathy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a profound and effective healing modality that offers gentle hands-on work with a deep sense of awareness and listening that allows the body to unfold and tell its story. The practitioner recognizes the subtle rhythms, micro-movements, managing patterns of life experiences and encourage the system to soften and let go of holding patterns. This allows the system to re-create the space and re-orient to the inherent health and intelligence within and support its natural expression. Through non-intrusive contact, balance and calm are restored to the nervous system. Health is stimulated in the body where depletion, shock, stagnation, stress, injuries affect optimal functioning. While the process looks simple, it can access and amplify our innate capacity for self-repair.

BCST is gentle enough to be used during pregnancy, with newborns, young children and older adults. Due to the respectful nature of this work, persons who are more frail and/or sensitive often welcome this style of work.

“Health is not merely of the body…

it is the natural expression of the body, mind and soul when they are in rhythm.”~Dr. Randolph Stone

Polarity Therapy is a blend of ancient wisdom and modern science. It is a wholistic approach to health that recognizes energy as the vital force in our body; acknowledges the interrelationship and interactions between the Mind, Emotions, Body and Soul.

Pain, stress, “dis-ease” reflect an energetic imbalance and manifests as tension in the body looking for resolution. Finding a healthy flow between the two polarities (Yin and Yang) will bring balance and harmony within the system.

“Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence.”

~Peter A. Levine, Phd

Experiences that are “Too Much, Too Fast, Too Soon” is a common description of trauma. Many of us have absorbed the impacts of overwhelm in the course of living. The remnants or impacts of undigested life experiences are wisely tucked away in our physiology as the body works to balance itself so it can continue to serve us with everyday functions. When major events happen, additional support is essential to remove these impacts in our system. The symptoms are many and often can be put into a big category called “dysregulation,” where our interdependent complex bodily systems have done their best to allow us to survive and keep living.

Knowing how to recognize and respectfully work in partnership with the person and their body with an informed level of support is crucial. Clearing the discharge in the physiology and energetic after-effects of traumatic experiences allow the body to return to a new state of balance with more access to its self-regulatory processes and a nervous system that is less defended.

The result is resolution in the body with surprising relief and renewed ease in our mental, spiritual and social selves. Symptoms fall away as their reason for existing has been resolved.

“The forces that are present at the beginning are also present throughout life.

There is an intelligence deep within the system that is managing all that and has from the very start.”

~Jaap van der Wal, MD, PhD

Prenates and babies are highly sentient beings. The baby in the womb is an undifferentiated being who is having the experience of himself and that of his mother at the same time. Events that are stressful or traumatic before and around birth leaves a big impression on the baby’s body and psyche (lack of connection, feelings of abandonment and betrayal). These experiences can have profound impacts (also known as imprints) on the emerging self in how they respond to life.

Recognizing and addressing these early experiences brings resolution to patterns and ways of coping that unravel and liberate us from the constraints that cause us to be confused about how we show up in the world as our genuine or authentic self.

Over time coping skills develop to cover the painful experience of overwhelm from an earlier time of innocence and vulnerability when the child was completely dependent on others for survival.

It is absolutely possible to heal from early ruptures and wounds.

“Learning how to tune into the subtle shifts that are going on inside us all the time can open us to the experience of wholeness and what I call the Authentic Self.”

~Peter A. Levine, PhD

The Lange-Muller Method for Natural Facial Rejuvenation offers the outer benefit of unlocking years of stress, tension, trauma or even scar tissue from the face. The laser-like focus of Facial Acupressure is based on Ancient Chinese Medicine Principles in combination with the gentleness of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.

“Shen” is the essence of our being. It is the spirit that lives in the heart and visible through the eyes.

The face can reflect and hold tension and trauma that is held in the body. Releasing facial tension will have a ripple effect on other parts of your system. What starts out as a “natural face lift” has the potential of offering a “life lift,” transforming the spirit and whole being.

  • Improves elasticity and skin tone

  • Enhances circulation of lymphatic system, blood and Qi

  • Restores expressiveness, joy and youthfulness

  • Transforms underlying imbalances and stagnation reflected in the face

  • The whole body settles into a new state of relaxation

What Clients Say…

Joan Chua

“After a motor vehicle accident, it was odd that there seemed to be less room in my mouth for my tongue. I spoke of this to a few healthcare practitioners including my dentist, and from these professionals, I felt a sense of incredulity and no solution. In only a few sessions with Joan, I noticed that my tongue fit more comfortably in my mouth. I was constantly holding my jaw and folding my tongue in my mouth which kept me tense. Now I found that I could relax my jaw more.” ~Anonymous

“I have been privileged to work with Joan in person and over Zoom this past year. Her level of skill, her presence, and her capacity to hold the container face-to-face and as well as “through the ethers” is amazing. Joan reflected love, compassion, and, unconditional acceptance to me until I was able to feel it in myself. I am grateful.” ~R.H., North Carolina

“Joan is a skilled & intuitive practitioner. She provides a safe and supportive environment where deep trust can be established. Our work together has helped me process emotional trauma experienced decades ago.” ~A.B., British Columbia

“I experience a letting go from the inside during a session, a release of unnecessary tension in the body. Yet it goes beyond relaxing. The session cultivates an awareness of my body. As one thing is uncovered and rectified, then after a while it reveals another that requires even more subtlety to notice. I often walk away with a feeling of peace, centeredness and newfound resilience.” ~S.F., British Columbia

“Joan’s grounded, steady and attentive presence gives me a sense of safety. I feel she listens to me from a place of unconditional acceptance and this helps me to be more receptive and open to what I’m feeling in my body. With kindness and compassion, Joan uses touch therapy and verbal cues to direct my awareness of tender, edgy, hidden places in my body that have needed attention, care and a voice for much of my life. Her expertise lies in her skillful ability to support me to be with the gentle unraveling of painful pent up energies in my body whose origins have been forgotten or stored until I felt safe enough to experience them.  ~K.S., Wyoming
